The Team
The position of Manager - Aboriginal Tourism and Industry Development forms a part of the Tourism & Events branch within the Sport, Tourism and Events group.
Sport, Tourism and Events (STE) is comprised of Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV) and Tourism and Events (T&E). SRV aims to create greater sport and active recreation participation opportunities for all Victorians in order to maximise economic, social and health benefits and enhance Victoria's liveability.
The Role
The Destination Planning Unit within the Tourism & Events Branch has responsibility for delivering key tourism reform projects and priority work as part of the $633 million Visitor Economy Recovery and Reform Plan, Victoria's statewide strategy to develop new experiences, products and infrastructure, underpinned by an investment of $633 million.
The position will focus on delivering against the strategic priorities of Yuma Yirramboi to support the self-determination of First Peoples-led tourism experiences and economic opportunities in Victoria, including the establishment of a First People's Tourism Industry body.
Yuma Yirramboi brings all Aboriginal employment and business initiatives together under a single framework to support wealth creation and achieve economic parity within a generation.

**Key accountabilities**:

- Oversee and deliver a policy framework to support the establishment of a First People's Tourism Industry Body and support the development of the First Peoples Tourism Plan, in collaboration with partners across the Victorian Government.
- Effectively manage and participate in discrete pieces of policy and strategy work within the Department related to First Peoples tourism opportunities aligned to Government's economic development priorities.
- Strategically lead and project manage tourism projects and funding agreements ensuring best practice project management for the delivery of key milestones and reporting, monitoring and resolution of issues in a timely and effective manner.

About You
The role requires strong ability to lead and contribute to tourism strategy and stakeholder engagement, with effective, persuasive writing and presentation skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills to deliver the Government's visitor economy priorities.
