**Who we are**
People Division, led by the Chief People Officer (CPO), provides human resources (HR) functions for the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (the department) with a clear focus on the department’s most valued asset: its staff. Alongside contemporary HR functions, projects and strategies People Division is also responsible for:
- Enhancing the department’s focus on safety.
- Enterprise bargaining.
- Cultural and change management.
- The department’s response to Australian Public Service (APS) reforms.
People Branch is responsible for the department’s strategic and operational HR advice, strategies, and support services, with a focus on enabling business areas to meet their workforce needs.
The People Branch is responsible for:
- Recruitment, Employment Programs and SES Unit.
- Workforce Planning, HR Reporting and Establishments.
- Talent, Capability, and Inclusion.
- Workplace Relations.
- SAP Payroll.
While these roles will report to People Branch, they will be dedicated positions supporting one of more national parks in Parks Australia Division.
**A bit about Parks Australia**
Parks Australia has a geographically dispersed workforce with diverse skills, and distinct local challenges and opportunities. Our national parks range from Christmas Island and Pulu Keeling far out in the Indian Ocean, to Norfolk Island in the Pacific. Three of our national parks are jointly managed with Traditional Owners - Booderee on the NSW south coast and World Heritage-listed Kakadu and Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Parks in the Northern Territory. We also manage a network of 60 Marine Parks and the Australian National Botanic Gardens in Canberra.

**The Job**
The duties of the Parks People Administration Officer may include:
- Support the Parks officers responsible for roster management to ensure timesheet compliance, coordinate public holiday and rostered day off (RDO) entitlements, regularly validate staff rosters and advise the DCCEEW central coordinator of any roster/entitlement changes.
- Advise on the establishment of processes and practices to improve timesheet compliance and management of pay and entitlements on park.
- Provide advice on recruitment activities and assistance entering jobs into e-recruit.
- Support capability uplift for managers and staff on payroll, timesheet and recruitment processes and practices.
- Manage establishments for the park including new position number requests and changes to existing position numbers to ensure the HR systems accurately reflect the park structure.
- Escalate any pay or recruitment related queries to the relevant DCCEEW HR teams.
**What we are looking for**
We are looking for a motivated, highly organised self-starter who is comfortable working in a flexible and fast paced environment.
**Knowledge and experience**
- Experience using HR systems such as SAP, Aurion and/or e-recruit is desirable.
- An understanding of federal government payroll/recruitment processes is desirable.
- An awareness of issues affecting First Nations people in remote locations and the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders from different cultural backgrounds.
**Skills and capabilities**
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and complete tasks within set timeframes.
- High level of resilience and the ability to be flexible and adaptable in a changing environment.
- Excellent communication, engagement and interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate outcomes and build productive relationships in a culturally diverse environment.
- The ability to take a solutions-focused approach and demonstrate initiative, innovation and agility to achieve results and improve processes.
- The ability to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality and ethical behaviour in the workplace and adhere to the APS Values and Code of Conduct.
**Please Note**:
This role may require regular travel to one or more of our remote national parks and/or Canberra.
**Eligibility and other requirements**
**Citizenship** **-** To be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.
**Security Clearance -** This position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
