About the Role
As part of the Strategic Procurement team, the Category Specialist role has responsibility for supporting the Customer Markets portfolio with annual addressable spend exceeding ~$220 million. Customer Markets represents the retail arm of AGL, including Telecommunications with a focus on supporting the implementation of our Retail Next Program which is set to transform AGL into a nimble and efficient multi-service retailer at scale, delivering simplicity for our people and exceptional experiences for our customers. A member of the Strategic Procurement team, this role includes establishing the category strategy, sourcing and development of commercial agreements, tendering, negotiation, and ongoing category management
What you’ll be doing:
- Support the execution of Category plans and sourcing strategies for group wide reviews, providing support as a key champion of AGL Strategic Procurement.
- Perform the execution of Strategic Sourcing activities (including negotiation and contracting) within the AGL Customer Markets category.
- Utilise AGL Procurement templates and tools for effective sourcing implementation including Ariba, Sourcing strategy templates, evaluation templates, negotiation templates, contract recommendation templates, and others as required in line with AGL policies and processes.
- Engaging with internal support stakeholders to achieve successful contract execution including contract negotiation in line with AGL policies.
- Partnering with business stakeholders to deliver successful and best value sourcing outcomes from development of effective sourcing strategies to engagement in line with AGL policies.
- Perform accurate data analysis and analytical support to ensure alignment to Category Strategy
- Support contract governance and management to realise agreed commercial outcomes
About You
You will have experience developing and executing medium to large scale strategic sourcing activities and delivering in the customer, telecommunications, and retail categories.
With a natural ability to develop strong networks and relationships and confidently communicate and influence both internal and external stakeholders, you will have knowledge of the business drivers and challenges faced within a large, matrix organisation.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- Tertiary qualifications associated with Procurement; Business, Commerce or Law is preferred, and/or extensive experience in developing and managing medium to large scale sourcing activities and contract negotiations.
- MCIPS Procurement qualification, or Postgraduate qualifications an advantage
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including written and presentation.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a complex and regulated environment
- Negotiating and influencing in a consultative and constructive manner
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with other departments and external agencies as related to job role
