**About the Role**:
An exciting opportunity exists for a Wildlife Project Officer who will work with a diverse range of partners and networks, including industry stakeholders to develop high quality and practical, scientific evidence-based policies, guidelines and strategies. The role works closely with both internal and external stakeholders to support the coordination and stakeholder engagement in the effective management of native and introduced wildlife. The Wildlife Project Officer has a key role in planning and facilitating the development of integrated intervention strategies and for raising community awareness and support for wildlife management. The role coordinates, assists with and delivers: policy development; statutory processes; project planning; training; data collection, management and analysis; and media.

The incumbent is responsible for:

- Wildlife management activities are developed, implemented and coordinated across the Department and with external stakeholders.
- Relationships and strategic links with other agencies, local councils, community-based bodies, researchers and stakeholders are developed to assist in the effectiveness and delivery of integrated wildlife management activities.
- Information and training programs are developed to support the effective administration of the Department's statutory functions and external parties have the necessary skills and knowledge to manage wildlife.
- Community awareness and understanding of wildlife management issues and initiatives is enhanced through the delivery of high-quality education materials, promotion and publicity.
- The Department and relevant external stakeholders are provided with accurate and timely advice to resolve problems relating to the management of native wildlife.
- The effective, and accountable use of the Department's resources related to wildlife programs by managing budgets and exercising financial and procurement delegations as authorised, and ensuring compliance with policies, guidelines and procedures.

**Contract**:
Contract up to 30 June 2024.

**Special Conditions**:

- A current National Police Certificate is essential.
- May be required to participate in fire management or associated duties.
- A current class “C” driver’s licence and willingness to drive is essential.
- May be required to undertake intra or interstate travel and work outside of the normal hours of work.
- Inter and intrastate and remote area travel may be required, including travel in light aircraft and work outside of the normal hours of work.

**Remuneration**:
ASO5 $83,273 min - $92,614 max per annum
