**The Role**
As an Executive Level 1 Assistant Director you will perform a range of duties including leading a small cost recovery team from domestic and international customers. You will also be able to provide financial advice as they relate to agreements that Defence has with our Foreign partners. Duties include:
- Coordinating financial governance requirements and promoting compliance with financial management frameworks, such as International Treaty obligations and Defence’s cost recovery policy.
- Lead a team, manage allocated resources, set work area priorities, manage workflows, develop strategies and evaluate business outcomes.
- Accountable for managing and leading a team, including providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people.
- Understanding and providing advice on Defence and government financial management matters relating to cost sharing including recoveries from foreign forces.
- Researching and analysing data to assist in the development of costing calculations that relate to recoveries from foreign forces.
- Motivate and mentor teams, align complementary skills and allocate resources to deliver results in accordance with Defence's financial objectives.
- Developing and maintaining complex cost recovery and planning models using Excel.
- Please note that this position may require infrequent interstate travel.

- Provides support and advice to business areas on cost recovery development;
- Provides a costing policy framework, guidance, tools and data;
- Provides technical expertise for cost recovery activities and development of international agreements;
- Is working to improve the consistency and methodology of charging rates across Defence.
- Strong client/customer focus, collaborative approach, adaptable and flexible.
- Ability to influence with strong written and verbal communication across a broad variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to work with independence for standard deliverables and ability to produce quality work within short time frames.
- Sound problem-solving skills and an analytical approach with conceptual capabilities and flexible approach.
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills to develop complex formulas
