**Purpose of the role**

Leading a highly effective team of Underwriters, the Home Operations Underwriting Manager is responsible for supervision and support of all aspects of underwriting Home Insurance Products, ensuring a robust risk selection process. The Home Operations Underwriting Manager is required to identify and analyse existing or emerging risks as well as opportunities for improvements and automation and work with all stakeholders to implement solutions that meet the current and future requirements of the business. The Home Operations Underwriting Manager is to drive the updates and maintenance of the underwriting policies and procedures, as well as supporting product initiatives and projects.

In addition to the above, responsibilities will include:
- Supervising Home Underwriting and BAU activities, ensuring compliance with A&G UW Guidelines, UW Policy, and procedures within the company’s risk appetite.
- Managing the team of Underwriters; incorporating recruitment, training, and development, supporting productivity and engagement, establishing targets and KPIs, and other managerial duties.
- Assisting the Senior Home Underwriting Manager in developing and maintaining underwriting policies and procedures in compliance with industry regulations and internal standards.
- Assisting in formulating strategy for the A&G Home Insurance portfolio.
- Proposing and implementing process improvement and automation initiatives.
- Monitoring project progress, assisting with testing and post-implementation reviews.
- Working closely with the Home Product management team to integrate underwriting insights into product strategies.
- Supporting implementation of new products and improvements to existing products and product options.
- Supporting and collaborating with Product teams including Product Delivery, Motor, Pricing, and Risk and Governance.
- Coordinating with departments such as C&A, Sales and Service, CDR, Marketing and Partnerships for cohesive product development, procedures and management.
- Analysing Australian insurance market and trends, identifying emerging risks and opportunities.
- Performing any other tasks as directed by the Senior Underwriting Manager and/or General Manager Home Underwriting and Product.

**What experience you’ll bring**
- 5+ years General Insurance underwriting and/or claims experience; experience with Domestic property insurance products will be highly regarded.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, e.g., business administration, economics, commerce, finance, mathematics, etc. and / or professional qualification (e.g., ANZIIF) preferred.
