**The Role**

Responsible for:

- Contributing to the development of the underwriting strategy and support its implementation
- Identifying opportunities to drive innovation and make improvements in process, products, and services
- Assisting with undertaking market and competitor analysis, underwriting development, and testing product and underwriting related system changes
- Supporting enhancements to the existing home product

**POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Assist with the identification and analysis of new and/or improvement opportunities within the home portfolio
- Lead investigations and design efforts on projects, implement process improvement, and/or system enhancements
- Compile reports and analyse trends in the home insurance portfolio to support continuous enhancements in data quality and presentation of results
- Provide support in the monitoring and reporting on the progress of projects and the performance of new initiatives, supporting continuous refinement, including taking corrective actions where necessary and assisting with post-implementation reviews
- Perform user acceptance testing
- Monitor and interpret insurance portfolio data
- Complete competitor research and analysis
- Take action to lead and build relationships between departments and teams to support the achievement of business and team objectives
- Assist with the monitoring of weather for exposure to CAT events, assisting with potential sales embargoes

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Underwriting and/or claim experience, exposure to product development and portfolio management specific to Domestic Home insurance would be highly regarded
- Sound knowledge /understanding of short-tail insurance products, underwriting and rating methods, systems, and procedures - including drivers and levers of profitable growth
- Tertiary qualification in mathematics, IT, business, economics, law, actuarial science, or related discipline
- IT literacy and the ability to learn new systems
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory regimes, compliance and legislation covering insurance
- Sound problem-solving ability along with numerical and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation, both written and verbal
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and respond rapidly and positively to change and to work under pressure to deliver outcomes with competing priorities
- Experience in managing and completing user acceptance testing
