**What You Will Be Doing**

The Emergency Department (ED) Ward Clerk is responsible for the timely and accurate registration and admission of patients presenting to the ED and the discharges of patients admitted to ESSU. The role works under the direction of the Floor Manager (ANUM) and works closely with nursing and medical staff.
The role requires all aspects of clerical duties to be undertaken including the collection of compensable data, obtaining signatures and providing fund information for private patients and collection of Overseas Ineligible patient payments. The Front of House Clerk often is the first point of contact with the organisation for patients, relatives, carers and other staff. It is therefore inherent that they provide prompt and courteous reception to all consumers of the ED.
Key Responsibilities:

- General administrative functions relating to the operation of the Emergency

Department.
- Duties as directed by the Nurse Unit Manager, Associate Nurse Managers, or Floor

Manager.
- Direct visitors as appropriate or escort them to the appropriate area within the

Emergency Department, after first checking they are able to visit.
- Attend to all internal and external enquiries at the reception desk either by telephone

or in person.
