The Bauxite Geology Team is responsible and accountable for delivery of appropriate orebody knowledge to support the RTA Operations and related Project Studies. The team currently supports four operations across Cape York and Arnhem Land, and includes the recently commenced Amrun, the long-standing East Weipa and Andoom mines, and Gove situated in the Northern Territory. In addition, the team supports orebody knowledge to support future mine studies and closure project. As part of the strategy, successful execution of the collection and interpretation of mineral resource data through drilling and other field programs represents the focus of the team. This is considered a critical enabler that underpins the current operations and ongoing development of the future projects.
The Bauxite Geology Team comprises primarily geologists and field support teams with accountability for leading and executing required field programs and associated data acquisition to support ore body knowledge compilation for RTA mineral resources. This includes drilling programs that vary from exploration type drilling through to close spaced grade control style drilling to support mine planning activities. Campaign style field-based operations occur both within operating mine sites and at regional evaluation and exploration project sites. Field based sites are commonly remote, involving field camps and therefore provide challenges with regards to logistics and contractor management. Technical deliveries from the BGT activities provide key inputs into RTA’s resource evaluation activities supporting both current operations and development study activities.
We are currently seeking a **Field Project Coordinator** to provide field support aspects of the exploration and resource evaluation programs to our team.
This includes ensuring the program works are carried out in a safe and timely manner, fit for purpose, within cost budget and on schedule. The field programs consist of two distinct parts, essentially completed in dry and wet seasons. Dry season work is actively undertaken in the field and involves the onsite visible leadership of all aspects of the support for the field program; including day to day onsite support of access construction, drilling operations, geological logging and sample dispatch, environment and cultural heritage aspects the of drilling operations. The wet season work is mainly constrained to preparatory and post evaluation work of the field programs.
Our team is based in Brisbane, but the role requires regular Fly In - Fly Out work to Weipa (Far North QLD) to complete field-based activities throughout the dry season (June - December), in line with the rest of the team.
This role is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual with a positive, _‘can do’_ attitude to join the Bauxite Geology Team based here in Brisbane. Working Monday to Friday and reporting to the **Superintendent OBK Logistics** you will:
- Promote a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible working culture, which will lead to a zero-harm workplace and continuous improvement for the Bauxite Geology Team.
- Ensure that the Bauxite Geology Team is well supported in the field by participating and leading in field-based activities. Including support in drilling, ground geophysics, bulk sample & associated field work including sample dispatch.
- Actively set expectations for field activities through onsite demonstrated visible leadership during the field program.
- Participate in the evaluation of Bauxite Geology Team workflow (and procedures) and identify areas of improvement to enable development of Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring the team is included in the process.
- Workflow streamlining, and coordination for the line clearing activities and drilling.
- Act as the coordinator for remote site works and field access.
- Preparatory and post evaluation work of the field programs.
**About you**
To be successfully considered for this role, you will ideally bring:
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of drilling and field operations;
- Experience coordinating drillers, other contractors and field staff within the Mining industry
- Stakeholder engagement, analytical capability and people management skills will be advantageous.
- Vehicle movement management such “Weed and Seed” certification experience will be highly considered
- Forklift Licence and MR licence will be highly regarded.
- Experience with Logistics planning using appropriate software to ensure timely delivery would be useful.
