Aps 5 - Judicial Commitments Coordinator

**Position Overview**
The Judicial Commitments Coordinator will primarily be responsible for the coordination of Judge duty and leave arrangements across all registries of the Federal Court, including:
**Key Responsibility and Duty**
- preparing duty rosters, including for the summer period, taking into account: parity of duty; judge commitments including listings, other commitments (e.g. Tribunal work) and leave; parity of duty over Full Court periods and public holidays; previous rosters; and preferences.
- regularly updating and publishing rosters when changes are made, including publishing on the intranet, notifying the listings team if the change is imminent, and updating internal systems for the inclusion of duty in the Calendar.
- managing urgent situations that require immediate attention and problem solving (e.g., duty judge conflicts, unavailability/capacity of judges).
- providing availability options to chambers on request, to assist chambers in arranging any necessary duty swaps.
- managing special arrangements, e.g. putting in place registrar resources and a varied duty schedule during Judges’ Meetings.
- assisting with the preparation of policies, practice notes and education materials relevant to duty.
- liaising with the profession and staff with respect to duty issues.
**Formal Qualification**s
A formal qualification is not required; however, a legal qualification would be valuable.

- To undertake this role the successful applicant should have:_
- an understanding of the jurisdiction and practices and procedures of the Court.
- strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage confidently with Judges of the Court.
- strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to evaluate a large volume of information quickly.
- the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities effectively.
- a comprehensive understanding of the Court’s case management systems (including CaseTrack, the Electronic Court File and CourtPath)
- competent IT skills, with proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint, in particular); and
- the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
**Eligibility**
- Australian citizenship - the successful applicant must hold Australian citizenship.
- Security and character clearance - the successful applicant must satisfy a Police Records Check and may also e required to complete security clearances during the course of their employment.
