At Rio Tinto, we believe Learning and Development is a core element to safe operations. We are looking for a** Learning Excellence Manager **to join Aluminium Pacific Operations (PacOps) and lead the team driving progress in the design, systems and governance of our broader learning function which inevitably drives greater safety performance and builds capability across our seven locations.

Reporting to the **General Manager Human Resources Pacific Operations**, the Learning Excellence team focuses on implementing best practice learning outcomes and system optimisation, governance and assurance whilst providing SME guidance to the learning community. A core function of the team is to establish processes and systems to support site-based L&D teams to deliver learning needs for today and into the future.

You will lead a small Learning Excellence team located in our Brisbane hub, responsible for driving progress across learning and development in Pacific Operations through data, technology/systems, process improvements, alignment, governance, and reporting. You will partner with stakeholders across Australia and New Zealand, to provide a professional learning service aligning with our values and creating meaningful career paths, to ensure the workforce is equipped to deliver the current and future needs of our business.

- Driving continued progress for learning improvements across PacOps
- Identifying opportunities for system/process enhancements, working with sites to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions
- Ownership over systems and upskilling of site-based teams in systems use
- Connecting locations with similar needs to standardize where possible, removing duplication of work
- Overall governance and reporting for Learning and Development across PacOps
- Design of learning materials for PacOps wide initiatives
- Analysing learning data to measure performance against pre-determined criteria. Meaningful impact to productivity can be measured by identifying opportunities and adjusting processes
- LMS system management including system optimisation and development of a simple learning tool/app
- Business analysis, requirements gathering, process review and analysis of learning data to highlight improvement opportunities
- Provide guidance to the Learning and Development community

- Relevant experience in managing a large team (Instructional Design, L&D, Education or Business Improvement)
- Strong stakeholder engagement and change management experience
- Instructional design, organizational and project management skills with an emphasis on safety an advantage
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills with ability to engage with, and present to all levels and audiences
- A drive for continuous improvement through a collaborative approach of two-way feedback
- A pro-active, can do attitude and see challenges as opportunities
- Effective time management and personal organisational skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships
- Strong commercial acumen; pragmatic and able to partner with the business seamlessly
- Strategic decision making with a demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate
- Excellent communication and engagement skills at all stakeholder levels and ability to manage a diverse range of matters
