We are currently seeking an experienced Governance and Legal Support Officer to join our team based at our offices in Sunshine in a Permanent Full Time capacity.

The role

The position provides administrative support across:

- Council's legal function, including the briefing out of matters to external legal firms, completion, reporting and monitoring of the legal register, and legal accounts management.
- Council's legislative governance program, including having key responsibility for delegations and authorisations, private interest returns, statutory and integrity registers (including gifts and hospitality and conflict of interest) and place naming processes.

To be considered you will have:

- Ability to work in accordance with our values and behaviours
- Tertiary qualification in governance, law, legal studies, or business administration, and/or relevant experience in a relevant field.
- Experience in the provision and procurement of legal services.
- Well-developed political acumen, including ability to assess issues and information and involve relevant parties in generating solutions or providing advice.
- Experience in electronic document production, including well developed attention to detail, proofing and formatting skills.
- Advanced customer service skills and ability to negotiate and gain cooperation from other officers and key stakeholders.
- Knowledge of mobile devices and software, and confidence with MS office suite.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
