Principal Privacy Officer

An exciting opportunity exists for a Principal Privacy Officer to provide high-level strategic leadership and advice to the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) regarding the planning and management of specific priority areas for privacy implementation and support. Whilst also providing multi-disciplinary training in information privacy in line with SCHHS's strategic direction. This role requires effective leadership and management of the SCHHS Privacy agenda, delivering best practice privacy requirements in a dynamic and evolving environment including the fulfilment privacy policies and frameworks in accordance with Information Privacy Act 2009, Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011, Human Rights Act 2019 and other relevant Queensland Health policies and legislation.
Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south to Gympie in the north.

**Key Responsibilities include**:
- To build a strategic and comprehensive privacy program that defines, develops, maintains and implements a privacy strategy, a privacy management framework and privacy management plan that ensures effective privacy practices which minimise risk, and ensure the confidentiality of protected information, paper and/or electronic, and across all media types.
- Oversee, develop and deliver initial and ongoing privacy training to the multidisciplinary SCHHS workforce and ensure training resources are in place and maintained.
- To serve in a leadership role for privacy compliance and ensure appropriate privacy policies, standards and procedures are in place and compliance is monitored.
- In collaboration with the Clinical Informatics team, manage an ongoing process to track, investigate and report inappropriate access and disclosure of health information. Monitor patterns of inappropriate access and/or disclosure of health information.
- Engage in communications and mediations with the Office of the Information Commissioner or Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) and support the carriage of any privacy matters lodged.
