Reporting to the CEO, the Executive Manager, Office of the Council & CEO will be responsible for the provision of the highest levels of expertise in Council governance advice to Councillors, CEO, Executive Leadership Team and the broader organisation. This role is a highly visible position within the organisation and will be responsible for relationships with key stakeholders that include State Government ministerial offices, state bodies and authorities, inspectorates and Council’s Audit and Risk Committee. With a focus on preparing the organisation for the return of an elected Council, this role will lead the development and delivery of a high quality, best practice Induction Program for Council, as well as leading the organisation wide implementation of processes, procedures and practices to support the return of the elected Council. Finally, the Executive Manager will develop and maintain a high performing, cohesive and engaged team that is equipped to deliver on both current and emerging needs for the organisation.
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in the provision of expert advice to a CEO, Executive Leadership Team, and elected officials. You are known for your leadership capability and have developed high performing team cultures that empower and inspire your teams to deliver exceptional levels of service and quality. You are well versed in governance and corporate compliance matters in the public sector and possess a sound understanding of the statutory roles and responsibilities of local government (including elections). You have proven experience in developing strong partnerships, relationships and gaining buy-in across a diverse organisation and have deep experience in the design, development and implementation of contemporary, best practice approaches.
