**About this role**
The Assistant Policy Officer assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of systems, programs, policies and guidelines to support the Patient Safety First Unit (PSFU), System Management Branch in the NSW public health system. The Assistant Policy Officer contributes to the provision of advice to a large range of stakeholders on matters relating to System Management Branch and assists in the development of high level advice on Patient Safety issues to the Minister, the Executive, Local Health Districts and other personnel in NSW Health as appropriate.

The Patient Safety First Unit’s focus is to strengthen safety and quality of care in NSW. Patient Safety First works with the districts/networks and Directors of Clinical Governance in partnership with the Clinical Excellence Commission, eHealth and other Ministry of Health branches to support the NSW Health Future Health: Strategic Framework.

Crown Clerk 5/6, salary from $89,707- $98,982 p.a. plus Super and annual leave loading

**What you'll be doing**
- Assist in the provision of verbal and written advice to a large range of stakeholders of the NSW Health system relating to Patient Safety
- Liaise with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach to the management of relationships
- Assist in the preparation of policy documents, briefs, correspondence, meetings and presentations for the Minister and Senior Executives and key staff within the Ministry of Health, public health organisations and related government agencies.
- Undertake a large range of clerical support functions necessary for Unit operation
- Undertake administrative work related to the operations of the Patient Safety First Unit.
- Provide executive support functions (including meeting attendance, agenda preparation, arrangement of meetings, and liaison with members) for the Unit and any other committees and panels related to the work of the Office.
