**This position is open to internal NSW Health permanent employees, or temporary employees who have been employed as part of a merit based selection process for more than 3 months.**

**Where you'll be working**
Health Protection NSW works to prevent exposure to, and minimise impact of, infectious and environmental hazards. HPNSW works closely with public health units in local health districts in the development, implementation and evaluation activities to protect public health.

**What you'll be doing**
The **Policy Analyst / Project Officer** will:

- Provide policy advice and develop draft policy on public and environmental health aspects related to Aboriginal communities.
- Undertake all aspects of project development and implementation including project planning, monitoring and regular reporting, as an individual and as a member of project teams.
- Implement programs to support the delivery of Aboriginal environmental health policies in NSW.
- Assist with the management of Aboriginal environmental health programs including housing, infrastructure, and workforce development.

You may be asked to undertake further assessments as part of the recruitment process for this position, which may include, but is not limited to, psychometric assessment (e.g. personality and cognitive abilities assessments) and/or particular work tasks.

**Selection Criteria**
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Health, Public Health, built environment, and/or relevant work experience in Environmental Health.
- Experience in policy development, implementation and review.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Aboriginal public and environmental health.
- Understanding of the range and nature of Aboriginal environmental health issues in NSW.
- Demonstrated understanding of the elements of project management.
- Effectiveness in consultation processes with a variety of stakeholders, through high level communication and negotiation skills, including excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Effective skills in information technology and systems, including office systems, word processing and spreadsheet packages and databases.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
