The Head of People, Australia acts as the face and strategic thought leader for the People function with stakeholders in Australia. Backed by robust regional and global Centres of Excellence, the position will act as an ambassador for the function, living the Edelman values through their actions, behaviour and communication. Our Head of People is a critical leadership position in Australia, working closely with our operational leadership team of CEO, COO and Commercial Director. The Head of People is a trusted member of our leadership team for people across the business, ultimately, helping to make Edelman the number one business to work for in Australia’s communications industry.
**Roles and Responsibilities**:
- Collaborate effectively with broader APAC People Team and work together towards developing and delivering the Australia people strategy in line with the APAC and Global People Strategy.
- Serve as a strategic partner and act as the interface between People and business leaders, managers and hiring managers, leveraging the CoE where relevant.
- Utilising a data-led approach (business and people data) to support decision making.
- Act as a thought leader on all things people, creating a vision for senior management buy-in and delivering integrated People initiatives to the wider business.
- Work in partnership with COEs to develop and implement internal programs, best practices and continuously strive to improve processes to ensure alignment with business objectives, strategies and internal/external trends.
- Work in an integrated way with the CEO, COO and Commercial Director to develop a thorough understanding of the business’s operations, its performance drivers and metrics, be across the numbers, and the talent impact/changes that need to occur in order to remain flexible and agile. This should be at both a market and regional level.
- Coach internal clients and stakeholders on effective team building, performance management and culture initiatives both reactively and proactively.
- Understand and display good judgment regarding the overall business, applicable laws and policies, internal and external culture and values.
- Always seek to be a source of advice and not a barrier to success.
- Serve as an advocate and champion for diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Role model the Edelman values, leading by example and serving as an ambassador of the company brand.
- Consistently measure and analyze program effectiveness, utilizing analytics and redirecting, as needed.
- Work in true partnership with fellow People Business Partners who oversee regional teams (practices, sectors or solutions (where applicable)) and support the deployment of vertical strategy in the local market.
- Lead senior case work and manage employee relations matters in local market.
- Support executive leadership (in partnership with the Marketing and Employee Experience functions) in developing the culture within Australia. In addition, it is the shared responsibility of the People Team, Marketing Team and Local Leadership to deliver and build upon the EVP, fostering high employee trust, engagement and retention while making Edelman the destination for talent.
- Work in partnership with the COEs to review local salary benchmarking as well as local benefits and reward schemes.
- Complete salary and MIP review process at the local market with input and direction from regional People and regional leadership
- Identification of top talent across all practices, sectors and solutions within the local market. Collaboration with Talent COE on development of initiatives and solutions.
**Qualifications & Experience**:
- Solid experience in Human Resources as a strategic business partner and trusted advisor.
- Prior work experience in a Marketing and Communications, Public Relations, or Advertising Agency a definite asset.
- Understanding of Australian employment practices and laws.
- Exceptional communications skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to build relationships with all levels of employees and management through trust and with team and consensus building skills.
- Proactive and able to anticipate needs.
- Advanced ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize in a fast-paced dynamic environment with an eye to detail and accuracy
- Conversant with cloud-based talent acquisition, engagement, and performance management programs, as well as HRIS systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint and SharePoint is required.
