**WHO WE ARE**:
Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is a volunteer-based emergency service. Our highly skilled and equipped Volunteers are trained comprehensively in a wide range of emergency environments. To minimise the impact of emergencies when they occur and strengthen the community's capacity to recover swiftly and safely, VICSES focuses on working with communities and partners in building resilience to achieve more aware, informed and prepared communities. We support them to understand their risk and the relevance of taking action before, during and after emergency events.
As the largest road rescue network in Australia we have specialist teams that provide a 24/7 response to road accident and trauma incidents. We assist Victoria Police in search and rescue operations, and play an important role in supporting the Country Fire Authority (CFA), Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV), Parks Victoria and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) during major bushfire and emergency incidents.

**ROLE SUMMARY**:
The Governance, Risk and Compliance Lead proactively manages the VICSES governance, corporate risk management and compliance (GRC) program, including insurance and business continuity, to foster a culture of awareness and quality improvement required for realising strategic and corporate goals. The role will be responsible for developing a cohesive and consistent approach to VICSES GRC program, ensuring that it not only meets regulatory requirements, but acts to strengthen business performance and as a strategic enabler. This includes:

- maintaining organisational awareness, both internally and externally, to identify emerging issues, trends and insights and assist internal stakeholders to understand and deliver accordingly;
- leading the development of strategies, policies and procedures for best practice organisational compliance;
- oversight of all internal GRC issues;
- implementing assurance mechanisms and processes, and
- acting as the VICSES co-ordinator with the Department of Justice and Community Safety, Emergency Management Victoria and central agencies on matters pertaining to risk, insurance and business continuity compliance and corporate reporting.
