**About us**

Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state’s energy system.

The organisation will drive delivery of world-class pumped hydro assets to provide the long-term storage and reliability needed to power Queensland’s clean energy future. The organisation will play a critical role in assisting the Queensland Government to meet its renewable energy targets and net zero emissions by 2050, supporting the shift in the Australian economy to a decarbonised energy system.

**Purpose**

The purpose of the Head of Land and Tenure is to provide strategic leadership across the business in relation to the development and implementation of Queensland Hydro’s strategies and management plans relating to land and tenure for Queensland Hydro projects.

Developing and maintaining effective landholder relationships based on trust are critical for securing the ability to successfully develop Queensland Hydro’s projects.

**The role**

Leading a dedicated team of land advisors and engagement professionals this role will play an integral part of the development team through the development and maintenance of relationships with landholders, negotiation of land access and acquisitions, securing the most appropriate land tenure arrangements and lifecycle management of land interests.

The key accountabilities are to:

- Build and maintain strong and effective working relationships with key external stakeholders including landowners and occupiers, near neighbours, local communities, and relevant government agencies.
- Develop and maintain land policies, strategies and processes including in relation to landholder engagement, access and acquisition of land, resettlement and compensation.
- Secure access to land and acquire land, including budget and schedule management.
- Oversee negotiations and compulsory acquisition process for the required land tenure.
- Negotiate and execute commercial agreements to acquire land tenure (easement, leasehold, license, freehold, other) agreements for Pumped Hydro developments and associated infrastructure.
- Work closely with key internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of land and tenure arrangements required to enable project developments.
- Work closely with various Queensland Government departments to understand challenges, develop and implement solutions across a range of tenure issues.
- Work collaboratively with the environment team to develop and implement cohesive and effective approaches to land, tenure and environmental offset management.
- Develop appropriate systems and tools to support the team’s activities and maintain and assure land tenure data across Queensland Hydro’s projects.
- Progress reporting on land and tenure matters.
- Ensure that Queensland Hydro’s core values are demonstrated in all dealings with landholders and wider group of Queensland Hydro’s stakeholders.
- Manage land assets on behalf of Queensland Hydro.
- Manage internal and external resources to deliver successful land and planning outcomes for major projects.

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

- Demonstrated experience in developing and leading the execution of a critical business strategy and/ or function in a large organisational context to underpin organisational success.
- Experience in working within a large, complex organisation and a proven capability to work horizontally in a highly collaborative way with other internal stakeholders.
- Ability to liaise with all levels of the business, community, government stakeholders and technical specialists and tailor communication outputs to suit the relevant stakeholder needs.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal skills and confident in verbal and written communications with a broad range of people
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in acquiring land, securing land tenure or managing community engagement for large scale infrastructure projects.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a management role.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen that drives the outcomes necessary to achieve the strategic goals of the business.
- Proven track record in achieving positive community and commercial outcomes.
- Ability to relate to, communicate and motivate a diverse group of people.
- Strong emotional intelligence, and relationship building abilities.
- Integrity when securing agreements while being clear about impacts and honest about expectations.
- Sound financial and commercial knowledge and relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability to drive and role model key people management processes (recruitment, performance management, safety, etc.)
