We are building a team of support workers to support our non-binary client who values common ground and open discussions. If you have an interest in complex topics like politics, education, psychology, and mental health, this could be the perfect fit for you.
We are looking for disability support workers who have experience with trauma informed supports and working with LGBTQIA+ clients. Experience in complex mental health, particularly Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), is highly desired.
As a disability support worker, your role will involve supporting the client develop their skills and capacity while providing support for daily activities. Safety, trust, and honesty are non-negotiable requirements of the role.
To do a great job, you'll need:
- Good judgement and common sense, listening skills, a willingness to learn and a commitment to our values.
- A trauma-informed support approach with a positive psychology lens
- Experience in complex mental health and mood disorders
- Have great patience and be willing to put in the time and energy to build a rapport with client
- Enthusiasm and passion for supporting people with disabilities to live great lives.
- Commitment to working with a care team approach, including guidance from professionals. For example, supporting our clients to complete a regular physiotherapy program.
- Full drivers licence and be willing and comfortable with providing transport in your own vehicle sometimes (we reimburse you for costs) and driving the client's vehicle.
- Willing to work shorter shifts. Shifts are from 9am-1pm, and 3pm-7pm
As part of our recruitment process, certain checks will be undertaken with your permission, including an NDIS Worker Screening Check that you must have before you can start work.
