**The Role**

Working within NITV’s Indigenous News and Current Affairs (INACA) team, the Queensland Correspondent will primarily report on Indigenous news, issues and events across Queensland and within the State’s First Nations communities.

Reporting into the INACA National Editor, this role will see you;
- Plan, research, write, edit and produce high quality, original and engaging news and current affairs stories, interviews and digital content for INACA programs including NITV News, Nula, The Point and Living Black, as well as NITV Digital platforms and social media.
- Generate, develop and pitch ideas for original content, which reflect the SBS Charter and NITVs unique identity and give primacy to Indigenous voices and perspectives.
- Stay up to date with current and developing Indigenous issues and events in Queensland, and travel within the State to file reports on location
- Deliver live crosses from the field into INACA programs, or on NITVs Social Media platforms
- Build and maintain networks within Indigenous communities and organisations across Queensland, and act as an ambassador for NITV in the State

**About you**

We are looking for a creative storyteller, with a nose for news, who is passionate about elevating and amplifying the voices of First Nations people and communities across Queensland.

You will have advanced communication skills and proven experience in journalism and/or media broadcasting, including the production and presentation of original, multi-platform news and current affairs content (television, online and social media). An understanding of, or experience in, camera, sound and editing systems is also highly valued.

You’ll have a deep understanding of Indigenous Cultural Protocol and the ability to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

You’ll be comfortable working remotely, and possess great communication skills with the ability to plan, organise and prioritise work by yourself. You’ll have a positive and solutions orientated attitude with the ability to work under pressure, and meet strict broadcast deadlines.

Reporting on Indigenous issues right across Queensland, you’ll be willing to travel for breaking news coverage and significant events across the State.

This is a great opportunity for an Indigenous journalist or producer with a couple of years of newsroom experience under their belt to take the next step in their media career
