**Your role**

The role manages the provision of high-level advice and support to the Deputy Commissioner Security and Custody and the General Manager Corrections Intelligence Group (CIG) through the timely development of strategic policy and planning initiatives, preparation of budget estimates notes and responses to questions on notice to ensure CIG and CSNSW objectives are achieved. This role provides highly complex and routine legal advice and interpretation to ensure that CIG meets statutory obligations and to otherwise support matters relevant to CIG and assists in preparation of policy and other advice, including making recommendations to the General Manager and Executive for review. The role exercises discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.

- Extensive legal post-qualification experience, with a focus on Administrative, Criminal and Privacy Law
- In-depth knowledge and demonstrated experience with the Terrorism (High Risk Offenders) Act 2017, Crimes (High Risk Offenders) Act 2006, Crimes (Administration of Sentences) Act 1999, Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998, and the Commonwealth Criminal Code Act 1995
- Highly developed legal skills and extensive experience which enable the provision of advice and representation in highly complex or important matters
- Knowledge of legislation relevant to Corrections portfolio, government functions and the legislative process

**Essential requirements**
- Completion of a law degree from an accredited law school or completion of the Legal Practitioners Admission Board’s Diploma in Law course
- Currently holds an unrestricted practising certificate as a Government legal practitioner issued by the NSW Law Society, with condition 2 removed
- To meet satisfactory probity and National Security Information Clearances, the successful applicant will be required to be an Australian Citizen and obtain National Security Clearance to the NV1 level within the first 6 months
