About the Role:
As the Commercial Manager, you will be working closely with the Major Projects team on the development of pre-award and post award contracts and commercial management for major renewable energy and battery storage projects in Australia.

You will lead the formation and implementation of contracting strategies for a range of major projects, including negotiation of major agreements as well as the effective administration and closure of major agreements in accordance with AGL’s procurement, governance and delegation of authority policies.

What you’ll be doing:

- Effective contract and commercial management including resolving disputes when escalated in order to maintain strong relationships and successful commercial outcomes
- Development of new and continuously improved contracting models and strategies
- Executing sourcing activities within the requirements of the project timelines, ensuring key stakeholders are informed of the key milestone activity progress for major projects
- Identifying and managing risks and opportunities throughout the project life cycle
- Partnering with business stakeholders in the development of effective sourcing strategies
- Leading commercial negotiations to achieve the required benefit and risk outcomes
- Completing periodic reporting in line with procurement and finance team requirements
- Drafting of financial Board Papers for Final Investment Decisions (FID) on project development opportunities
- Updating and implementing the commercial / contractual elements of AGL’s Project Management Framework

About You:
You will be a highly analytical Commercial, Contract or Procurement Manager with experience with pre-award and post award contracts, with experience on the client or contractor company on high value construction projects. Your exposure to the energy industry or renewable energy projects will set you up for success.

What you’ll bring to the table:

- Tertiary qualifications associated with Engineering, Commerce, Business, Law, Quantity Surveying or similar
- Strong commercial acumen and 10 years’ plus experience in a similar role working on large-scale high-value construction and energy projects
- End-to-end experience in contract strategy development, negotiation, formation and administration during all phases of project development
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including written and presentation skills and a demonstrated capacity to develop viable business cases
- Demonstrated effective negotiating and influencing skills in a consultative and constructive manner
- Self-motivated, confident, highly efficient, proactive and professional with respect for confidentiality
- Able to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- A high level of understanding of a mature procurement environment, including governance requirements, delegation of authority, purchasing policies and processes.
