**_The Opportunity_**

Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) is an evolving area in healthcare focused on improving the overall quality, completeness, timeliness, and accuracy of clinical documentation in medical records to support improved interdisciplinary communication and the ongoing delivery of safe, high quality patient care. It also supports accuracy in the clinical coding process, promotes adherence to quality and safety standards as well as ensuring appropriate reimbursement for the complexity of excellent care we provide to our patients.

The Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS) role is a position that drives best documentation practices within your hospital. As a CDS, you will use your clinical expertise to influence the quality of clinical documentation at the point of care to ensure the goals of the national CDI program are reached, improving quality and safety for our patients in the process.

As part of this new and developing field, Healthscope have partnered with external consultants who are experts in the field to assist us with education and onboarding of new starters to ensure that you are well equipped and supported as you take on this CDI journey. You will also be part of a broader national network of CDS team members all dedicated to help each other and grow together.

- Strong communication skills
- Strong clinical competency
- The ability to work inter-professionally with clinical, nursing, quality and coding staff and develop strong working relationships.
- Strong IT skills and an aptitude to learn
- Understanding of private health funds
- Understanding of accreditation standards and quality frameworks
