**Federal Government Agency** to engage an Policy and Legislative Officer.
***This position has locations around Australia for an initial
**6 month contract.**

**APS5/6 Duties**
- Supporting the development of policy and legislation, particularly related to the disbursement of levy funds (relevant to Levies Legislation Disbursement section only)
- Supporting the preparation of drafting instructions for the Office of Parliamentary Counsel to prepare the new legislative framework (relevant to Levies Legislation Disbursement section only)
- Reviewing existing legislation and historical levies policies to shape the new legislative framework relevant to (relevant to Levies Legislation Disbursement section only)
- Supporting the legislation exposure and introduction processes
- Supporting the preparation of internal and ministerial briefings, reports and policy discussion papers for review
- Liaising with other policy, regulatory and operational areas in the department and across government.

**EL1 Duties**
- Leading the development of policy and legislation, particularly related to the current levy recipient body legislation (relevant to Levies Legislation Disbursement section only)
- Reviewing existing legislation and historical levies policies to shape the new legislative framework (relevant to Levies Legislation Disbursement section only)
- Leading research and analysis to inform policy papers and consultation material (relevant to Levies Legislation Disbursement section only)
- Assessing industry feedback for consideration in the legislative drafting process (relevant to Levies Legislation Disbursement section only)
- Managing industry consultation processes
- Managing the legislation exposure and introduction processes
- Managing the preparation of internal and ministerial briefings, reports and policy discussion papers
- Liaising with other policy, regulatory and operational areas in the department and across government.

**Requirements/Skills**
- Experience or exposure to legislative reform processes and legislation development is highly desirable.
- Experience or exposure to large government reforms or policy development.
- Background in law (Law degree desirable)
