Our Federal Government client is seeking
**two experienced Policy and Legislation Development Officers** to support the work of a 12-month project.

**About the role**:

- leading the development of policy and legislation, particularly related to the current levy
recipient body legislation (relevant to Levies Legislation Disbursement section only)
- reviewing existing legislation and historical levies policies to shape the new legislative
framework (relevant to Levies Legislation Disbursement section only)
- leading research and analysis to inform policy papers and consultation material (relevant to
Levies Legislation Disbursement section only)
- assessing industry feedback for consideration in the legislative drafting process (relevant to
Levies Legislation Disbursement section only)
- managing industry consultation processes
- managing the legislation exposure and introduction processes
- managing the preparation of internal and ministerial briefings, reports and policy discussion
papers
- liaising with other policy, regulatory and operational areas in the department and across
government.

**Ideally, you will have**:

- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team, including with remote workers
- Ability to research and analyse complex information to inform decisions
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills
- Ability to provide sound advice on complex matters to the executive and the minister
- Experience working in a policy/legislative reform role including research, preparing drafting instructions, policy papers, briefing material and analytical reporting

**Desirable, but not essential**:

- Experience or exposure to legislative reform processes and legislation development
- Experience or exposure to large government reforms or policy development
- Knowledge or experience of the agricultural sector
