**About the Corporate Services and Infrastructure Group**

The Corporate Services and Infrastructure group, within the Department of Justice and Community Safety, oversees and leads the key public accountability requirements of the department including finance, procurement, evidence and insights, performance reporting and risk, audit and integrity, and environment and climate change. The group also manages the governance and delivery of major infrastructure through the Community Safety Building Authority (CSBA).

**About the Role**

The Manager, Environmental Sustainability and Compliance is responsible for leading a small team to deliver the department's environment and sustainability program in line with parameters set by Government. The role liaises department wide and with Whole of Government on environmental risk; drives departmental environmental policies, standards, and guidance; and supports entities and agencies to reduce the department's environmental impact.

This role is a great opportunity to drive the department's environmental sustainability agenda, including the Environmental Management System and Environmental Management Plan.

You will:

- Drive the department's environment and sustainability program in accordance with the departmental Environmental Management System (EMS) and the _Climate Change Act 2017 _and E_nvironment Protection Act 2017_ - General Environmental Duty.
- Lead the implementation of the department's EMS, including complex and sensitive audits; preparation and implementation of the bi-annual Environment Management Plan (EMP); review departmental policies and strategies; and

**About you**
- A tertiary qualification in energy, environmental science, sustainability, or relevant field is required.
- Strong experience with Government processes and operations focusing on policy development and delivery.
- Extensive experience in identifying organisational climate and sustainability priorities to establish objectives and targets and achieve outcomes.
- Advanced specialist knowledge of systems that are modelled upon ISO14001, as well as current legislation, policies and contemporary developments and trends in sustainability, climate risk and climate action.
- Experience working with green building rating systems such as Greenstar, NABERS, ISCA or others is desirable.
