Climate & Environment Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Climate & Environment Specialist to join our team at Telstra. As a key member of our sustainability team, you will play a critical role in delivering on our strategic environment commitments and reporting requirements related to climate change, resource efficiency, and other elements of our Sustainability Strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze environmental data and metrics, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in data collection and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain data models to support forecasting and strategy development, ensuring accurate and reliable insights for business decision-making.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and industry experts, to advance environmental topics and drive sustainability initiatives.
  • Support the development and implementation of environment-related policies, procedures, and programs, ensuring alignment with Telstra's sustainability goals and objectives.
  • Manage the collection and calculation of environmental data, including via Telstra's sustainability reporting platform and other systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to compile datasets and identify opportunities for process improvements, ensuring efficient and effective data management.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and industry experts, to advance environmental topics and drive sustainability initiatives.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience related to environmental data and reporting at a corporate level, including NGER, APC, CDP, Climate Active, and TCFD.
  • Significant experience of relevant carbon accounting frameworks and data lifecycle management.
  • Proven knowledge of complex corporate data architecture and ability to develop and maintain data models to support forecasting and strategy development.
  • Familiarity with broader environment, climate change, and resource efficiency topics, including emerging trends and risks.
  • Proven skills in research, strategic analysis, and synthesis of complex information, with the ability to generate actionable insights for business decision-making.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Broad business experience contributing to change programs across customer-facing and delivery functions in a large, complex environment.
  • Experience working on program implementation to deliver customer and business outcomes, with a focus on reporting and project delivery.
  • Strong relationship-building and other soft skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and build effective partnerships.
