**The Opportunity**
On behalf of a Government Agency based in Melbourne CBD, we are looking for an
**APS6 Payroll Advisor**. The
**Payroll Advisor** is responsible for overseeing and administering the payroll function, liaise with stakeholders on a wide range of payroll and staffing matters, managing their needs and expectations, and providing high quality payroll advice and support.

The

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Provide accurate, timely and expert advice and support to managers and staff on entitlements and general conditions of service
- Initiate a range of payroll activities in Aurion related to commencements, cessations, and changes to salaries, working arrangements, leave entitlements, allowances, superannuation, tax etc.
- Provide regular and ad-hoc workforce data and reports covering a wide range of HR metrics including remuneration, leave liability, flex balances, diversity and employment equity, unscheduled leave, and attrition for a range of audiences such as agency's Accountable Authority, Executive Leadership Team, line managers, Finance team, Australian Public Service Commission etc.
- Develop or review relevant policies, procedures, and user guides, and ensure they are updated as required to remain current and accurate.
- Build team and managers’ Aurion knowledge and capabilities so they can manage and support staff more effectively and efficiently.
- Manage or coordinate payroll projects that deliver ongoing improvements, quality of service and professional practices and standards.
- Knowledge and practical experience providing payroll services using Aurion payroll solution, preferably within the Australian Public Service.
- Sound knowledge and demonstrated ability to accurately interpret relevant legislation, employment agreements, policies, and procedures, and provide expert advice and recommendations regarding employment conditions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to provide accurate, timely and high-quality correspondence, payroll reports, policies, and procedures for a range of audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build and maintain strong and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to provide a valuable and high-quality service to the business.
- Ability to be proactive and take ownership of the payroll function, work autonomously (when required), and achieve results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
