Our client’s role is to increase involvement in sport and enable continued international sporting success through leadership and development of the sports sector, targeted financial support and the operation of the Australian Institute of Sport. They play a unique role in the sport ecosystem and tackle the big challenges and opportunities with and for the sector, taking on different roles based on where and how they can add the most value through expertise, leadership and voice.
**The Opportunity**:
You will work closely with the team to manage and improve human resources policies and practices, particularly in regards to employee relations.
**The Role**:
In consultation with team members, as the APS6 HR Advisor you will be responsible for implementing organisational strategic agenda to achieve section and business outcomes. Your duties will include:
- Developing, reviewing and improving human resource practices
- Assisting in the development and review of HR policy documents and related materials to ensure the commission has appropriate coverage
- Providing high quality advice on workplace practices and employment legislation, using discretion to refer more difficult or sensitive issues to senior management
- Participating in and providing material support to Enterprise Agreement negotiation processes and the implementation of industrial instruments
- Developing relevant papers and reporting
- Under broad direction of the Assistant Director, manage complex code of conduct and performance cases, providing guidance and coaching to managers, making succinct and clear recommendations to the Assistant Director and Director, drawing upon relevant employment legislation and policy
- Developing and maintaining expertise in workplace relations to ensure a comprehensive understanding of relevant and current issues, standards and legislation
- Work collaboratively as part of a high performing team/organisation, establishing and maintaining effective partnerships with key internal and/or external stakeholders to deliver high quality business outcomes.
**The Ideal Person**:
You will be self-motivated and be able to hit the ground running. To be successful in this position you will have knowledge of, or experience in:
- Tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in Human Resources Management, Law, Employee Relations, Governance, or a relevant related field
- Demonstrated experience developing and interpreting policy within an HR environment
- Demonstrated understanding of legal/ policy frameworks that relate to employment conditions, work health and safety, payroll and other human resources related matters
- Proven experience operating in a complex HR environment, including direct engagement with employees and their representatives around employment arrangements
- Demonstrated capacity to provide timely, compelling and concise advice to inform executive members and senior management to support decision-making
**Salary / Rate**:
- $84k - $100k + 15.4% Super
- 6 month non ongoing
