**Why your role matters**
The Head, Employability is a critical leadership position within the Pro Vice-Chancellor Student Success portfolio. This pivotal leadership role involves shaping and executing the UNSW Employability Strategy. Key deliverables of this position include expanding experiential learning opportunities, managing strategic partnerships and overseeing the operations of Graduate Futures, Coaching, Student Development, Partner Engagement, Policy and Contracts and Work Integrated learning (WIL) systems.
This role will spearhead outreach efforts, fostering collaboration with faculties, government entities, industry stakeholders, and community partners both locally and internationally. Collaboration with key divisions including Societal Impact, Equity and Engagement, Transformation, Planning and Assurance, Research and Enterprise, ensuring alignment with UNSW’s overarching external engagement strategy and adhering to all relevant legislative and policy frameworks.
This role presents a unique opportunity to drive impactful change and enhance the employability outcomes of UNSW students through innovative strategies and effective partnerships.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Lead the development, implementation, and successful delivery of UNSW Employability Strategy, managing resources and priorities, and exercising influence and tact with senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for Graduate Futures, Coaching and Student Development, Partner Engagement, Policy and Contracts, Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Central, and Enterprise Systems.
- Provide high-level, expert advice to senior stakeholders across the Faculties and Divisions in relation to employability and related partnerships to achieve the strategic intent of the Portfolio with respect to the educational and student experience.
- Effectively allocate and manage resources, including budgets and staff to ensure the delivery of sustainable, high quality employability initiatives, including management of the day-to-day operations alongside the strategic development of future state proposals.
**About You**:
You will hold a relevant tertiary qualification(s) and significant relevant experience in the management of employability policies, programs, contracts and partnerships (government, industry and community) alongside:
- Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of a whole-of-university strategy for employability and related partnerships with significant experience in the development and implementation of programs, policies and legislative requirements, especially effective contractual arrangements for WIL and other related agreements, including with government, industry, and community partners locally and overseas.
- Substantial experience in managing employability and related partnerships projects related to curriculum design and delivery, and in the development and/or review of academic policies and quality assurance processes.
- Proven track-record of working effectively to balance legal and regulatory obligations with strategic objectives and initiatives.
- High-level interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain effective collaborative professional relationships with University staff and external stakeholders.
- Significant leadership and team management skills with demonstrated success in developing and fostering teamwork and contributing positively as a team member to enable and ensure the achievement of team and organisational goals.
- Effective financial management skills and data-insights based decision making with the ability to work collaboratively with specialist staff to manage and report on initiatives against allocated budgets.
