Head of Sales

Our client is a dominant player in the provision of technical services and product solutions to the Defence, Maritime and Aerospace sectors. With an expansive current portfolio of contracts, and strong opportunity for growth, they are seeking a highly motivated Head of Sales and Business Development to provide sales leadership and contribute to the organisation's growth.
Your responsibilities will include the ownership of the go-to-market strategy for specific customers as well as market sectors, ensuring deep understanding of evolving customer needs and how propositions could be deployed to meet those needs. You will ensure that the wider sales team are aligned to this sector sales strategy as appropriate for their customer portfolios.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build a strong awareness of sales opportunities across the Defence, Maritime and Aerospace sectors.
- Develops and manages strong relationships with customers in the Defence, Maritime and Aerospace sectors.
- Selects, develops, leads and manages a highly productive sales team.
- Leads the development and implementation of the sales plan to deliver geography or sector revenue targets and P&L growth. Ensures alignment with overall sales strategy and priorities whilst anticipating local issues, challenges and opportunities.
- Supports the team to configure complex, high value tailored or bespoke product and service solutions and associated contractual terms that meet the customer's strategic goals.
- Effectively communicates the overall sales strategy and business plan to the management and sales teams.
- Manages effective delivery of existing contracts.
- Works with leadership teams to develop and gain agreement to an annual business plan.
- Utilises data effectively to make informed business decisions.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED
- Proven ability to develop and deliver business growth strategy and win high-value, technically complex programs.
- Experience in managing sales and service delivery functions.
- Experience in the Australian defence sales environment is ESSENTIAL.
- Ability to understand and negotiate complex technical, commercial and contractual issues.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline as desirable.
- Ability to hold an Australian government security clearance.
