Running for Premature Babies is a charity that gives sick and premature babies a better chance of survival. They fundraise and provide urgently needed neonatal equipment to hospitals in need Australia wide. The charity was founded by Sophie Smith OAM, after losing all three of her prematurely born triplets in 2006, and has grown to directly benefit thousands of sick and premature babies.
**About the role**
As a Board member of Running for Premature Babies, the successful new Directors will be required to attend four meetings per annum, with varying levels of additional time commitment as required.
In addition to attendance at formal Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM), Board Members volunteer their time and professional expertise to support initiatives, Chair or contribute to sub-committees and act as an advocate for the charity in promoting fundraising initiatives, media coverage and events throughout the year.
**About you**
At this time, in line with the aforementioned succession planning process, Running for Premature Babies is seeking experienced and committed professionals from the following backgrounds:
**-**
**Technology**: as a charity with a strong digital/online footprint, the collection of funds through online electronic transfer and the management of data, a Board member with credentials and experience in the technology space will add significant value.
- **Legal**: a Board Member with a strong legal background adds significant value to the charity by providing a qualified view on matters of risk, governance and assurance.
- **Media**: a Board member with strong relationships and connection to television and other forms of mainstream media will enable maximum exposure to raise the profile of the charity to support fundraising success.
You will have prior experience in a Board or Senior Executive position and be experienced in governance, strategy, risk management and the understanding of financial statements. In addition to your technical and professional skills, you will have a passion for the cause and have the ability to dedicate the time and energy as required to support the organisation in its continued growth, success and impact on the lives and families of those who need it most.
As a voluntary Board member, you will not be paid for your time however will gain an incredible sense of pride and contribution toward this exceptional cause.
If you have a passion for running (or exercise in general), in raising funds to procure life saving equipment for premature babies and being part of a highly committed and experienced Board, we would love to hear from you.
