The Housing and Homelessness Reporting and Development Unit delivers evidence about homelessness support services and housing assistance provided to Australians in need. The Unit supports states and territories to develop nationally consistent data definitions for national reporting requirements.
Key Duties Of The PositionHousing and Homelessness Reporting and Development Unit – APS6 Project Officer
- Lead a small team of 1 to 2 staff
- Coordinate projects, liaising with analysts, data visualisation experts and web/publishing teams
- Author/review reports using data from analysts and contribute to data visualisations
- Contribute to technical committee papers and coordinate meetings
- Effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders
To be successful, you will have well-developed skills in project management, authoring of data reports, strong verbal and written communication, and sound organisational skills.
Child Welfare Unit – APS6 Project Officer
- Manage data development projects under national commitments (e.g., National Agreement on Closing the Gap Target 12, Safe and Supported: National Framework to Protect Australia's Children, National strategy to Prevent and Respond to Child Sexual Abuse)
- Manage a small team to produce outputs from the CP NMDS and related data assets for annual releases
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the CWU's work program
To be successful, you will have project work, data analysis, verbal and written communication, sound organisational skills and staff management skills.
Tobacco, Alcohol and Other Drugs Unit – APS6 Project Officer
- Interpret survey analysis output and identify key trends for reporting from the 2025 National Drug Strategy Household Survey
- Manage and prepare reports for public release
- Support release of products including reports, data tables, data visualisations, confidential data sets, metadata, progress papers
- Manage analysis and output of results
To be successful, you will have verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, research project work, data analysis and interpretation, and sound organisational skills.
Suicide and Self-Harm Monitoring Unit – APS6 Project Officer
- Organise and manage project tasks, provide advice on issues or risks, escalate when necessary, and provide administrative/professional support
- Contribute to documentation relating to the Outcomes Framework
- Undertake complex research, analysis and interpretation of data from multiple sources
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders
- Authoring/reviewing content for web hosting on the AIHW website
Eligibility
- Be an Australian citizen
- Undergo required pre-employment checks, including a police records check
- Obtain and maintain a valid Security Clearance if required
- A probationary period of six (6) months applies to any new APS engagement
