  • Responsible for the operational performance and administration of the assigned workshop and technicians as directed by the Company as changed from time to time.
  • Responsible to assist with customer liaison and the development of new business opportunities within your assigned area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for the scheduling, and efficient and safe completion of all site work to meet client requirements, including assisting in the job planning and administration of activities as required (e.g. CSLM and XY milling, and Shut planning).
  • Responsible for the supervision, professional and ethical performance and conduct of both permanent and supplementary employees.
  • Manage the design/build of new equipment, modifications and maintenance of existing equipment.
  • Responsible to conduct safety inductions and training plans of all new and existing personnel (including contractors and labour hire).
  • Responsible to issue safety equipment and tools as necessary for the required tasks, and to ensure that all employees, and contractors are fully conversant in its application and use.
  • Responsible to purchase additional equipment, safety gear, components for jobs and workshop supplies as necessary in line with our purchasing procedures.
  • Responsible to complete and maintain a daily diary and provide reports as required.
  • Responsible to monitor service job sheets for contract work, to ensure that all client jobs are correctly charged for, and to cost our service job sheets against non-contract job numbers.
  • Responsible to ensure that reasonable work times are maintained. This should typically include monitoring start/stop times and meal/smoke breaks, both onsite at customer premises and in the workshop.
  • Responsible for ensuring a safe working environment, to conduct monthly safety meetings in the workshop and for ensuring that all company and legislative occupational health, safety, welfare and environment requirements are met.
  • Responsible for the overall cleanliness and efficiency of the workshop.
  • Responsible to act on complaints from clients or our own personnel as necessary and to pass on any serious matters to the Supervisor in the first instance and, where applicable, the Human Resources Manager for resolution.
  • Responsible to ensure the workshop operates as a professional team.
  • Responsible to promote and market Company products and services.
  • Responsible to ensure that ETS and all equipment movement requests are monitored, recorded and details sent to the person asking for the movement.
  • Responsible to allocate appropriate time and resources for training to ensure ongoing skills development via external/internal courses arranged in conjunction with the Supervisor.
  • Responsible to ensure that operations comply with the Quality Health and Safety System for the supply of services and products to our clients.
  • Responsible to ensure all workshop activities comply with Company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all workshop equipment is adequately maintained and calibrated as per Company procedures.
  • Responsible for performing other duties as directed by the Supervisor from time to time.
  • Required to assist with on-site technical service work at the direction of the Supervisor.
  • Maintain a close and positive working relationship with technicians, supervisors, engineers and the Supervisor to ensure information is shared and opportunities maximised.

Requirements
  • Fitter & Turner, Fitter Machinist, or other trade qualifications at C10 or above. Post trade qualifications an advantage.
  • Qualifications or relevant experience in leadership and management.
  • Previous supervision/management of a small to medium sized field service or workshop organisation preferably in a heavy industrial environment. (mining, refining, pipeline, power generation, heavy manufacturing etc).
  • Excellent service delivery skills, with particular focus on client relationships.
  • Ability to set priorities, work to deadlines and to work with minimal direct supervision.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.
  • Willingness to share responsibility with other employees for providing 24 hour on call service to our clients.
  • Willingness to work reasonable overtime and weekends as required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal – English language).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • High level of computer literacy and good working knowledge of MS Office suite.
  • Effective problem solving skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Must hold a current Australian Driver's Licence, with Forklift Ticket an advantage (or must be prepared to obtain forklift ticket).
  • Senior First Aid certificate an advantage. (or must be prepared to obtain one)
  • Travel within the region, interstate and overseas as required.
  • Physical Requirements: (where safe to do so):
    • Manual work in various positions e.g. stand, sit, bend, crouch, kneel and arms over head.
    • Lift equipment using correct lifting practices
    • Climb ladders to heights of 30 metres
    • Work at heights from ground level of up to 50 metres
    • Work in conditions of extreme temperature
    • Work next to live failed plant at pressures up to 5000 psi
    • Work (with correct safety attire) in areas and on failed plant where corrosive, explosive, dangerous and hazardous products exist
    • Work in confined spaces (after correct training)
