Job Description - Senior Commercial Manager | Defence (264540)

UGL has a strategic partnership with the Department of Defence across the Defence Fuels Network for Fuels Management, Asset Management, Operations, and Maintenance. We are recruiting a Contract Administration & Document Controller to join our business in an exciting and unique opportunity to work in Australia's Defence environment and support the national security requirements of the Nation.

This role is expected to be for a duration of 6 months, and we are flexible regarding the location. It is expected to commence in September/October.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Defence Services Line of Business as a Senior Commercial Manager, reporting to the GM Defence Services.
  • Understanding client contracts of various types for complex projects, identifying key risks, developing mitigations in consultation with subject matter experts, managing policy non-compliances according to UGL's governance processes, drafting contracts, and leading client-facing negotiations.
  • Engaging and collaborating with Senior Legal Counsel on the Defence Fuels Managing Contractor Contract, including contract extensions, changes, and subcontractor departures.
  • Being a self-motivated individual with high commercial and contractual acumen, capable of managing the full contract and bid/project lifecycle and balancing competing priorities.
  • Experience with Commonwealth contracts is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Defence industry and operating environment is an advantage but not essential.
  • Experience with Joint Venture agreements and US Government contract terms is an advantage but not essential.
  • Must be an Australian citizen and capable of obtaining or holding a valid Defence Security Clearance. Applying for a Defence Security Clearance at the appropriate level is mandatory.
