The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Finance Manager to join our Energy & Utilities Finance team at Downer. Reporting to the Head of Finance - Power Projects and Energy & Industrial, this role partners closely with multiple sub-LOB General Managers and operational leaders to deliver strategic objectives and strong financial outcomes across Energy Solutions and Energy Networks.

This is a key leadership role where you'll manage and develop a high-performing finance team, drive financial strategy and performance, and ensure effective controls are in place across a large, complex portfolio. You'll play a critical part in providing transparent, insightful financial reporting and building a performance-driven culture where deadlines are met, high-quality outputs are delivered, and continuous improvement is embraced.

What You'll Do

In This Role, You Will

Partner with General Managers and operational teams to establish strategic plans and deliver financial outcomes.Lead, coach, and develop the finance team, fostering capability, cross-skilling, and career progression.Drive financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and controls, ensuring clarity, timeliness, and accuracy.Support distressed projects, providing strong financial oversight and recovery support.Work closely with Growth team to ensure that bids meet relevant financial criteria and that the feedback loop operates effectivelyOversee governance framework as a key part of business risk managementProvide meaningful forward-looking financial insights that drive decision making.Manage working capital processes including debtors, WIP conversion, and cash flow forecasting.Build a culture of performance, curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement.What We're Looking For

We're Seeking a Commercially Astute Finance Leader With

A tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or Commerce (CPA/CA required).10+ years' experience in financial/project accounting within large, complex organisations.Strong leadership capability with a track record of developing high-performing teams.Deep understanding of long-term contracts and commercial complexities.Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across senior levels.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and significant exposure to ERP systems (JDE or SAP ideal).Experience with reporting/analytics tools (TM1, HFM; Power BI).Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, confident, and insightful commentary.What We Offer
