Planning Officer – Local Planning & Council Support
The Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) in NSW is seeking a Planning Officer to support strategic planning and policy initiatives, working with local government and other agencies to deliver land rezonings across NSW. You will contribute to housing delivery, economic development and infrastructure planning to help make NSW communities more resilient and liveable.
Responsibilities- Conduct research and analysis to inform strategic planning and policy recommendations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of planning policies, strategies and statutory rezoning projects.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies and community groups, to achieve planning objectives.
- Support infrastructure coordination and land use planning to enable sustainable development.
- Provide input into policy reviews to improve planning frameworks and processes.
- Brief planning panels on rezoning projects.
Note: This role focuses on the North and East of Greater Sydney and the Central Coast.
What You Will BringYou will bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate data and inform decision-making, excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities, and experience in policy development, strategic planning or land use planning. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant planning and environmental legislation and processes is required.

- Tertiary degree qualification or equivalent
- Willingness to travel and Class C Driver's Licence for regional positions
