Join the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure for the Planning Officer - Social and Affordable Assessments role.
The roleDevelopment assessment is exciting, challenging and fulfilling. We are looking for planning assessment professionals who can deliver high quality, efficient and timely assessment advice to ensure State significant projects meet all statutory obligations, Government policy requirements, and Government goals. You will complete assessments within benchmark timeframes in a manner that provides greater certainty for applicants and the community while maintaining quality. You will work on a wide range of planning matters, analyse issues to recommend innovative options and solutions, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of customer service while managing the interests of stakeholders and the community. You will contribute to ongoing improvements to our processes.
Responsibilities- Assess State Significant Development applications to boost housing supply and deliver city-shaping development in key NSW sites.
- Deliver timely, evidence-based assessments that consider stakeholder concerns and drive quality outcomes.
- Provide clear and well-written reports and documentation; translate complex technical information into accessible language.
- Engage with stakeholders and communities to support assessment processes and decisions.
- Contribute to process improvements and innovation within the Housing and Key Sites Assessment branch.
- Tertiary degree qualification or other equivalent qualification; ability to travel; Class C Driver's Licence for regional positions (essential).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to translate complex information into easy-to-understand material.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant environmental assessment and planning legislation and processes; strong stakeholder engagement skills.
