We believe in the strength of a vibrant, diverse and inclusive workforce where the backgrounds, perspectives and life experiences of our people help us innovate and create strong connections with our customers.

As a Network Tools and Monitoring Specialist, you'll play a key role in delivering managed services and technical support across our government clients' complex technology environments. This includes supporting network automation and monitoring platforms, ensuring high availability, and working collaboratively with internal teams and vendors. Your work will directly contribute to the stability, security, and performance of mission-critical systems. This role follows ITIL practices and requires technical depth in Linux, AD/DNS/DHCP, Splunk, and CCNA-level networking, while offering room to grow and gain exposure to emerging tools and technologies.

Your Day-to-Day

•Monitor, maintain and support our clients' critical network and security toolsets and platforms

•Provide triage, incident management and access control within an ITIL-based environment

•Support change control, release management and process improvement

•Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure service delivery outcomes

•Act as an escalation point for more complex incidents or troubleshooting

•Support security engineering activities including vulnerability assessments and SIEM platforms (e.g. Splunk)

•Work standard business hours (Mon–Fri, 38-hour week) with a hybrid arrangement: 3 days in office, 2 from home

•Participate in after-hours work for planned changes, with on-call/call-out and overtime opportunities

What We're Looking For

•Experience in systems/network administration (Linux, AD, DNS, DHCP)

•Networking knowledge with CCNA certification or above

•Familiarity with security operations and tools (e.g. Splunk, SIEM, vulnerability management)

•Problem-solving mindset and ability to work calmly under pressure

•Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams

•A passion for learning and a willingness to contribute to continuous service improvement

•Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain NV1 security clearance

What's in it for you?

•Accessible employer with wheelchair access

•Inclusive paid parental leave, up to 16 weeks for the primary care giver

•All Optus employees have access to resources, webinars and support via the 'Parents at Work portal'

•25% monthly service discount and $80 monthly bill rebate plus additional benefits to over 400 retailers Australia-wide

•Connect at work through our employee-led volunteer groups: Culture Connect, Elevate Women, Disability Network, Express Yourself (LGBTQIA+), United Veterans, Yarn Network, Wellbeing Network and Young Professionals

•Vibrant campus life, variety of facilities including restaurants, cafes, gymnasium, GP, and post office

•Free Optus bus from Macquarie University Metro Station (every 6–8 minutes); morning and afternoon
