Network Security Specialist

This role will play a pivotal part in the mid to large-scale network security operations team. The position entails handling and organizing level 3 escalations, as well as managing vulnerability and maintenance windows.

  • The specialist is responsible for installing, configuring, and upgrading hardware, systems, and software for networks.
  • Management of network and security performance involves monitoring, troubleshooting, reporting, and continuous improvement to optimize performance.
  • The specialist must identify, analyze, and manage risk at every aspect of work.
  • To secure network systems, the specialist establishes and enforces policies, defines, and monitors access.
  • The specialist undertakes project design and architecture work, including high-level and detailed design work.
  • The specialist provides technical consultation to business/technology stakeholders to support relevant infrastructure partners and other business stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has intermediate to professional knowledge in coding/scripting, supporting our network automation platform which supports customer requests. Expertise extends to scripting for database queries, bolstering the databases housing network telemetry and status information.

Coding skills: Python scripting/coding (intermediate) - primary importance.

DevOps tools skills: BitBucket, Jenkins, JIRA, GitHub, Terraform, Vault.

Network security: operational expertise in the networking domain, showcasing ability to tackle complex network challenges. Experience with F5 load balancer, GTM/LTM, firewalls - Juniper SRX, Fortinet FortiGate, VMware (now Broadcom) NSX.

Data management skills: data collection, schema binding, data manipulation, and analytical skills.

Required Skills:

Candidates should possess the following skills:

  • Coding Skills: Intermediate level proficiency in Python scripting/coding.
  • DevOps Tools Skills: Experience with BitBucket, Jenkins, JIRA, GitHub, Terraform, Vault.
  • Network Security: Operational expertise in networking domain with experience in tackling complex network challenges.
  • Data Management: Strong data collection, schema binding, data manipulation, and analytical skills.
