Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Visory Full time

About Visory

Visory is on a mission to put the financial back office of small businesses on autopilot, so founders can stop drowning in payroll and bookkeeping, and start making better decisions. We combine a powerful platform, a team of payroll and finance experts, and real-time insights to transform how businesses manage their financial performance.

We're backed by world-class investors, growing fast, and scaling across the US, ANZ, and beyond.

Now, we're looking for a payroll leader to help us scale exceptional service delivery across our marketplace model.

The Role

This isn't a BAU payroll management role.

You'll lead a high-performing payroll operations team responsible for delivering timely, accurate, and compliant payroll for our customers. You'll own workflow performance, solve complex problems, and set the bar for quality across the team.

You'll be building and running the engine that powers payroll in our expert marketplace. That means managing capacity, overseeing implementations, driving standardisation, and helping transition Visory into a scalable, tech-enabled payroll delivery model.

We're looking for someone who thrives in operational detail, leads with accountability, and is hungry to build a best-in-class payroll service.

What You'll Do

  • Own payroll workflow delivery – ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
    • Monitor and enforce service levels, proactively solving capacity and SLA risks
      • Oversee ad-hoc requests and ensure high-quality outcomes across all tasks
        • Implement strong quality control practices in partnership with our Process & Quality team
          • Lead root cause analysis and documentation of quality issues, preventing recurrence
            • Maintain up-to-date process documentation and support platform improvements
              • Build scalable onboarding processes for new customers, reducing key person risk
                • Drive team development and technical training to maintain excellence
                  • Act as technical SME in our shift toward a more scalable marketplace payroll model
                    • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve workflows and unlock future growth

You'll Thrive Here If You…

  • Are obsessed with execution – you set high standards and deliver consistently
    • Love leading teams and building scalable, repeatable processes
      • Are fluent in payroll operations and compliance (Australia & NZ ideal)
        • Are detail-oriented but can also think systemically
          • Enjoy improving workflows and working closely with product teams
            • Want to shape the future of payroll delivery in a modern, AI-enabled model

Bonus Points If You…

  • Have experience transitioning payroll teams to marketplace or outsourced models
    • Have implemented payroll tech or led platform enhancement initiatives
      • Have worked in high-growth or startup environments

What to Expect from the Interview Process

  • Application
    • Intro call with our team
      • Deep dive on operational leadership and payroll expertise
        • Final conversation with Visory leadership
          • Offer

Sound like you?
