The Opportunity (Key Responsibilities / Duties)

As Project Officer, Environment and Utilities, you will :

  • Support the delivery of projects under the department's climate, infrastructure, and assets strategy.
  • Implement programs and projects, identifying risks and managing expectations on time and within budget within the department's program management framework.
  • Draft advice concerning facility services, including management and reduction of waste, electricity, and water, and reporting across all services and initiatives.
  • Manage utility contracts and vendors, including processing consolidated accounts, collating data, and seeking efficiencies while maintaining service standards.
  • Prepare reports, including briefings, correspondence, and data analysis, to communicate and evaluate the department's performance against targets, including annual legislative reporting requirements.
  • Undertake policy and legislation research and analysis to develop standards, processes, and procedures, with an emphasis on managing risk, compliance, sustainability, and cost-effective initiatives such as emission reduction, waste, energy management, and environmental controls.
  • Evaluate existing business processes to identify areas for improvement, design solutions to resolve issues, and develop solutions using the Microsoft suite of products.
  • Maintain and develop collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to stay informed about emergent climate management issues.

  • An understanding of budget and financial principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing environment and utilities-related projects.
  • Evidence of meeting the eligibility requirements will be requested during the selection process.
