
Facilities Officer

The Facilities Officer is responsible for supporting the effective and efficient management of the RACP's buildings across Australia and New Zealand. This role ensures a safe, functional, and comfortable environment for staff, visitors, and business operations, while optimising resource utilisation and compliance with relevant regulations.
This is a full-time, office-based role located at 145 Macquarie Street, Sydney, with standard working hours of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
Key Accountabilities- Asset Performance & Maintenance: Maintain functionality of all RACP-owned and leased assets, including critical building services (HVAC, electrical, hydraulic, fire, and security systems). Implement preventative maintenance schedules, oversee reactive repairs, and effectively manage contractors across the RACP property portfolio.
- Minor Repairs & General Maintenance: Conduct minor repairs and routine tasks to ensure immediate functionality and appearance of facilities (e.g., replacing light globes, tightening fixtures, minor plumbing issues, adjusting door closers, assembling items).
- Safe & Productive Environment: Foster a safe, secure, and conducive work environment for staff, members, and visitors. Conduct regular facilities inspections, support emergency response plans, and manage facilities administrative requirements.
- Space Management: Ensure premises are clean, well-maintained, and support operational needs. Manage space utilisation, promptly address support requests, and maintain high standards of presentation across all RACP sites.
- Property Strategy & Sustainability: Contribute to long-term planning and optimisation of the property footprint. Assist with accommodation reviews, identify opportunities for upgrades, and support sustainability initiatives (e.g., energy efficiency, waste management) to align with operational requirements.
- Experience providing administrative and operational support in a facilities or property management setting, including coordination with staff and external vendors/contractors for scheduling, service delivery, and compliance. Understanding of WHS principles to contribute to a safe working environment.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio) and facilities management systems (e.g., JIRA), plus experience with databases like tenant portals for tracking, work orders, and records.
- Strong written and verbal communication with a focus on customer service.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage workload.
- Experience supporting projects or providing project support within a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong prioritisation and deadline management capabilities to meet changing team needs.
- As listed above in Essential Attributes; experience in a facilities or property management setting, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and contributing to safety and compliance.
