**CMRI is seeking a tradesperson with an electrical or air conditioning qualification for a six-month full-time contract.**

Children's Medical Research Institute (CMRI) was Australia's first dedicated paediatric research facility and is now one of the world's most highly regarded independent medical research organisations. Our research focuses on the four key areas impacting children's health: cancer, genomics and genetic diseases, neurobiology, and embryology.
**Work with a team of dedicated professionals**
We are looking for a Facility Officer to join our team to:
**1. Building Compliance and Maintenance**:
- Assist the Facility Engineer with maintaining building compliance requirements/permits/approvals
- Proactively and reactively carry out minor repairs, maintenance and cleaning to the building where you have relevant experience, have carried out a risk assessment, have a Standard Operating Procedure to follow, and have completed all requisite training
- Coordinate contractors who carry out maintenance of building infrastructure, plant and systems
- Assist the Facility Engineer to implement proactive maintenance schedules
- Contribute to the institute Building Facilities service desk, carrying out tasks and/or tasking of jobs to contractors where appropriate
- Contribute to continual improvement initiatives for works and asset management systems
**2. Building Management System (BMS)**:
- Monitor the BMS to maintain internal environmental conditions to agreed level of comfort, compliance and/or any other operational requirements
- Assist the Facility Engineer in liaising with BMS and mechanical contractors to maintain timely resolution of any software or mechanical issues affecting the operation of the building management system
**3. Cleaning**:
- Assist with the coordination of contractor cleaning activities relating to building facades and external areas within the property boundary
**4. Landscaping Management**:
- Assist with the coordination of landscaping contractors who maintain soft landscaping elements within the property boundary
**5. Pest Control**:
- Assist with the coordination of routine pest control management
**6. Communication and Stakeholder Engagement**:
- Assist the Facility Engineer in keeping CMRI workers informed in relation to activities which will or could be disruptive
**7. Contract Management**:
- Check to make sure contractors carry out building maintenance in accordance with their quotes and contracts
- Carry out contractor inductions, hot works and confined space inductions
- Escalate any disputes with contractors to the Facility Engineer as required
- Contribute to the efficient and timely receipting invoices relating to compliance and maintenance matters
**8. Backup Coverage**:
- Support the Building Facilities team by contributing to back-up coverage for the Facilities/Dock/Stores Officer when they are on leave, including contributing when the Facilities & Scientific Support Assistant is unavailable or is unable to complete all of the required tasks normally undertaken by the Facilities/Dock/Stores Officer, including overseeing the receiving and dispatching of deliveries
- Support the Building Facilities team by contributing to back-up coverage for the Building Attendant/s when they are on leave, carrying out cleaning duties within specialized areas of the institute as required - Support the Building Facilities team in preparing for and enabling large functions and events at the institute
