Overview

This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026. Alkimos College is seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly competent, and enthusiastic Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) teacher, with excellent interpersonal skills. Located in the northern suburb of Alkimos with sweeping ocean views, Alkimos College opened in 2020 with our foundation Year 7 cohort, providing local intake area students with access to an exceptional secondary education in world-class learning facilities. Stage 1 buildings include administration, lower school student services, library, gymnasium, fitness centre, food studios, cafeteria, IT labs, technologies workshops, general classrooms, nine science laboratories, and nature play area. Shared oval and community facilities with the City of Wanneroo are available via the adjacent Halesworth Park precinct. Stage 2 (rolled out in 2024) includes a performing arts centre, lecture theatre, senior school student services centre and general classrooms.

The Role

The successful applicant will ideally be a positive and passionate teacher of HASS, with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. You will deliver an engaging and relevant HASS curriculum, from the early and middle adolescent phases of learning through to senior secondary courses. You will ideally be an enthusiastic adopter of a college-wide instructional framework based on explicit teaching and instructional skills, strategies, and tactics. You will be committed to personal and professional growth and embrace opportunities for collaboration. Graduates are welcome to apply.

The successful applicant will ideally demonstrate the ability to develop innovative classroom practices and utilise Information Communication Technology (ICT) to provide integrated, personalised, and authentic learning experiences for students. A key attribute is the ability to create environments conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities that are fun, purposeful, relevant and cater for differing student learning needs. Commitment to the college's extra-curricular activities (after-school Academies) is highly desirable, as well as active promotion of the college's motto "Aspire. Act. Achieve" values and vision within the college and wider community.

Eligibility

To work with us, you must:

  • hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment. More information about employment eligibility can be found on our website.
  • apply for a WA Working with Children Check before you start; and
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
