The Newsreader will work independently during shifts, liaising closely with the FIVEAA News Chief of Staff, Station Manager, Content Producers, and Presenters to ensure on-air news content is current, accurate, and consistent.

This role involves interviewing, researching, writing, editing, and presenting on-air news bulletins that are recurrent, accurate, and aligned with brand style and broadcast codes of conduct, all under tight deadlines.

What you will be doing and what skills you may have:

We are looking for a qualified journalist with strong technical skills in writing, editing, and presenting talk radio news bulletins and headlines each hour.

You will have a strong interest in news and current affairs, and your news reading style will suit the FIVEAA brand.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, writing and presenting live local news, sport, and weather twice an hour.
  • Accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

To support and reward your success in this role, we will offer the successful candidate:

  • A high-performance culture where you will work among a team that prides itself on being engaged, dynamic, and capable of overcoming any obstacle.
  • Exclusive early bird access to major events and concerts across Australia.
  • Access to health and wellbeing initiatives (Nova's Life+ & Employee Assistance Program, mental health training programs).
  • Amazing employee benefits from a wide variety of partners nationally.
  • Frequent staff lunches and survey celebrations, with 2025 shaping up to be a big year with some big wins.

This is a fixed-term, on-site position located in our Adelaide studios. Our teams are dynamic, engaged, and highly collaborative, and being on-site will ensure your personal and professional development. Depending on business needs, we are open to exploring flexible work options where appropriate.
