Overview

Are you a hospitality manager who knows how to deliver excellence? Located in Brisbane's northern suburbs, Australia's Best Meetings & Events Venue for 2022 (AHA Awards) is looking for a motivated Functions Operations Manager. Eatons Hill Hotel provides a unique and award-winning Conference & Functions experience for clients, offering up to 20 spaces dependent on requirements and atmosphere, led by a strong team of hospitality experts coordinating functions from small social events to large-scale occasions. The right applicant will bring attention to detail to the execution of our conferences & functions across the multi-venue business.

The role reports directly to the General Manager & Venue Manager, working alongside an ambitious team focused on crafting extraordinary experiences for our customers. This role oversees corporate and social functions and weddings, ensuring they are spectacular while boosting revenue, crafting memorable moments, and building strong relationships with guests.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the operations of the event from start to finish, including team briefings, production arrivals, and timeline adherence.
  • Act as the main point of contact for all on-site issues or changes.
  • Ensure all service teams (e.g., catering, AV, bar staff, waitstaff) are operating efficiently and according to the event plan.
  • Manage on-the-ground staff rostering, delegation, and problem resolution.
  • Perform hands-on tasks including furniture placement, signage installation, minor AV adjustments, etc., as needed.
  • Supervise and participate in pack-down and clean-up operations.
  • Ensure all equipment is returned, accounted for, and in good condition.
  • Reporting incidents, issues, or feedback to management and/or clients.
  • Organise beverage stock needs, transfers and POS requirements.
  • Review event outcomes and identify improvement areas for future functions.
About You / Qualifications
  • Proven experience managing large scale functions & events.
  • Availability across a 5-day working roster – AM, PM & Weekend shifts.
  • A confident, engaging, guest focused personality with a passion for delivering memorable experiences.
  • Natural leadership skills with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exceptional time management and organisation skills - you are a master of prioritisation
  • Success in delivering profit and controlling costs.
