Salt House is looking for an energetic and hands on Functions Coordinator to join our team at our iconic waterfront venue in Cairns.

Salt House is a unique, multi-space venue designed for the tropical North Queensland lifestyle.
Our venue features:
- A 180-seat restaurant with a wood-fired Argentinian grill
- Private dining room for up to 20 guests
- Standalone pizzeria
- Two large cocktail bars
- Daybeds, relaxed seating and expansive grassed areas
Our venue is ideal for a variety of events and functions, from large weddings, corporate functions, and major events like our annual Food & Wine Festival.
We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service, incredible food, and unforgettable experiences. Salt House is also a strong supporter of live music and local talent, hosting weekly DJs and musicians.
About the role:
As Functions Coordinator, you will work closely with and assist our Functions & Events Manager and Restaurant team to ensure all functions run smoothly from the initial enquiry to final pack down.
This is a hands on role where you will be actively involved in every stage of the function process, including set ups, staffing, logistics, and on the day coordination. You must be comfortable working across all areas of the venue, so a strong background in hospitality or current studies in hospitality or event management is essential.
You will also support the Functions & Events Manager with administrative tasks such as handling enquiries, bookings, preparing function sheets, coordinating entertainment, and assisting with billing and accounts.
This is a casual position with the opportunity for full time for the right candidate. Salary will be commensurate with demonstrated skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Functions & Events Manager with all aspects of functions
- Deliver exceptional customer service before, during, and after functions
- Assist with setup, logistics, staffing, and pack down of functions
- Meet and greet guests, ensuring every function starts on the right foot
- Maintain a clean and organised function space
- Troubleshoot any issues during functions with professionalism
- Ensure RSA and venue standards are upheld
- Assist with client communications and post function feedback
- Liaise with the Restaurant Manager and Executive Chef
- Other duties as assigned
Shifts include evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
About you:

- The ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
- Current RSA certification
