The Role

The role of Research Management Accountant provides an exciting level of variation within the finance setting. Along with provision of management accounts, forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis you will hold a portfolio of externally funded projects. Within your portfolio you will be responsible for supporting Principal Investigators with every aspect of managing grant expenditure, dealing with a wide range of funders and working closely with pre-award and other teams at Kingston.

Research and Knowledge Exchange activities are expected to grow significantly over the next few years as key elements of The Kingston University Town House Strategy. The Person

The successful candidate will be educated to at least 'A' level or equivalent standard, qualifications must include GCSE Maths and English (min. Grade C/Level 4), with a first degree being desirable.

They should also have accounting experience or be studying for a professional accounting qualification (e.g. AAT).

The ideal candidate will have good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple demands and varying deadlines, following tasks through to completion. They will be able to plan and prioritise workload to meet agreed objectives/deadlines and be able to work independently and use initiative.

The Directorate for Finance, HR, and Infrastructure plays a critical role in shaping and supporting the University's strategic and operational success. With a focus on excellence, efficiency, and people-centred practices, it delivers vital services that influence the daily experience of staff and students while enabling long-term institutional growth. These services span financial management, workforce development, and the maintenance of both physical and digital infrastructure - ensuring the University's operations and ambitions are fully supported. With a clear focus on service quality, innovation, and people-first practices, the Directorate operates in close partnership with academic faculties and senior leadership to ensure institutional goals are achieved. It is driven by a commitment to excellence, service, and sustainable progress, promoting a culture where collaboration, innovation and transformation thrive. This is a full time, permanent position with a starting salary of £38,863 per annum.
